Competitive Packet Routing with Priority Lists
نویسندگان
چکیده
In competitive packet routing games, packets are routed selfishly through a network and scheduling policies at edges determine which packages are forwarded first if there is not enough capacity on an edge to forward all packages at once. We analyze the impact of priority lists on the worst-case quality of pure Nash equilibria. A priority list is an ordered list of players that may or may not depend on the edge. Whenever the number of packets entering an edge exceeds the inflow capacity, packets are processed in list order. We derive several new bounds on the price of anarchy and stability for global and local priority policies. We also consider the question of the complexity of computing an optimal priority list. It turns out that even for very restricted cases, i.e., for routing on a tree, the computation of an optimal priority list is APX-hard. 1998 ACM Subject Classification F.2 Analysis of Algorithms and Problem Complexity, G.1.6 Optimization, G.2.2 Graph Theory

A Priority-based Routing Algorithm for Underwater Wireless Sensor Networks (UWSNs)
Advances in low-power electronics design and wireless communication have enabled the development of low cost, low power micro-sensor nodes. These sensor nodes are capable of sensing, processing and forwarding which have many applications such as underwater networks. In underwater wireless sensor networks (UWSNs) applications, sensors which are placed in underwater environments and predicted ena...
متن کاملOnline Packet Routing on Linear Arrays and Rings
In contrast to classical offline k-k routing, the online packet routing problem allows for an arbitrary number of packets with arbitrary end points and release times. We study this problem on linear array and ring networks. We generalize an earlier result for the offline problem by showing that Farthest First (FF) scheduling is optimal with respect to makespan on linear arrays. We also show tha...
متن کاملBroadcast Routing in Wireless Ad-Hoc Networks: A Particle Swarm optimization Approach
While routing in multi-hop packet radio networks (static Ad-hoc wireless networks), it is crucial to minimize power consumption since nodes are powered by batteries of limited capacity and it is expensive to recharge the device. This paper studies the problem of broadcast routing in radio networks. Given a network with an identified source node, any broadcast routing is considered as a directed...
متن کاملPriority based Dynamic Packet Assignment for Multipath Routing in Multihop Networks
With the prevalence of wireless video applications, QoS of wireless video transmission in resource-limited wireless networks attract more and more researchers’ attention. In network layer, how to perform video packet assignment in multipath routing is a key issue. In this paper, we develop a simple but efficient, priority based dynamic assignment algorithm for multipath routing. The idea of thi...
متن کاملOptimal Node Routing
We study route selection for packet switching in the competitive throughput model. In contrast to previous papers which considered competitive algorithms for packet scheduling, we consider the packet routing problem (output port selection in a node). We model the node routing problem as follows: a node has an arbitrary number of input ports and an arbitrary number of output queues. At each time...
